Most women grow up dreaming of their wedding day. In the world of Pinterest, some even have their wedding mapped out before they even have a man or the ring! As silly as that sounds, it's the truth. So what happens when that perfect color you had picked out no longer matches the season you choose to get married in? The truth of the matter is that ANY color can match ANY season if you work in the right color palette with it. This week we will focus on the color Plum.
Many people love purples. They are beautiful colors, but can quickly go from classy to tacky depending how you implement it. The purple tones that fit well into a November (or fall ) wedding are the shades of Plum and Marsala. Whether you are looking for a very warm and cozy feel, or a cool ethereal feel both of these colors can work together to achieve the look.
Warm Tones
When aiming for a warm color palette, the very unsuspected combination of plum and orange are an amazing way to capture this feel.

Mixing the plum and orange with a Marsala and other seasonal colors will entice your guests to enjoy that warm feeling that holidays often brings. If you are a pumpkin loving fool, this color palette is made just for you! However, if pumpkins are not your thing, you can work in fall leaves, sunflowers, and berries or more earthy features such as acorns, wood elements, or nuts like almonds / walnuts. This color palette works well with burlap accents but can even be tied together with beautiful golden ribbons and lots of candles to add a cozy efffect. Using warm plums in the fall allow you to utilize elements that are in season such as leaves, pumpkins, and mums. Not only will it look beautiful, it will also save you money!
Cool Tones
If warm tones are not your forte and you would rather have a soft, romantic feel to your wedding, Plum can also be mixed with soft colors such as seafoam and nude. These colors are very versitile and allow the wedding to take on a peaceful romantic vibe.

Once again, if you are a pumpkin person, you can utilize white pumpkins in this mix! If pumpkins are not your idea of wedding decor, this theme also works well with accents from nature such as wood elements, cotton, wheatgrass, jasmine and succulents. If you are not a pumpkin person you can use mason jars, milkglass, or wooden boxes. Unlike the use of candles for a cozy effect as in the warm palette, candles will provide a soft glow to enhance the romatic feel. Burlap works well with this theme as well, but you can also add sparkly silvers, lace, and seafoam accent ribbons. These color tones will allow your guest to feel swept away as if in another world full of love and relaxation.
Whether you want warm and inviting or cool and romantic, Plum is the most versatile fall color to utilize in November! It may very well be the most under-estimated color in the fall tones, but it will be a color you will never regret implementing if you know how to use it correctly!
